Ned’s interest in bugs from an early age, led to studying zoology at Bristol University and then going on to work at the Natural History Museum in London for 10 years. He came to Devon as a woodcarver. After various jobs, including teaching, Ned’s welding skills improved with welding his campervan and he found himself creating metal sculptures. An experiment with fixing saw-blades into a wooden fish has led to much of his work incorporating both materials. Drift wood, recycled wood and scrap metal are the materials used. Old tools are an important part of some of the sculptures and many donations have come from people clearing out sheds and garages.
